WebRTC & Privacy — How StrangerCall Protects Your Audio

A clear, non-technical explanation of the WebRTC stack and privacy protections.

Encryption & direct connections

WebRTC encrypts media streams between peers using SRTP. When two browsers can connect directly, media flows between them and not through our servers.

When relays are used (TURN)

Some networks prevent direct connections. In those cases TURN servers relay encrypted media. Relays do not decrypt audio — they only forward encrypted packets.

What we store

We avoid recording audio. We store minimal metadata (timestamps, region/language selection, anonymized logs) needed for moderation and reliability. Read full details in our privacy policy.
